SIX excuses!

Ugh.  I don’t feel like working out today.  I’ve given myself three days off because my knee was in some serious pain, but I’m feeling much better so I was planning on working out, but now I don’t feel like it.  And, as you all know, I am the QUEEN of excuses, so I have a few tonight.  I’m going to write all my excuses, and then talk myself out of them…

1. The dog.  He had already had an accident by the time I got home.  I feel bad leaving him again to go workout, plus I’m afraid that he’ll have another accident while I’m gone.

–I can’t revolve my life around a dog!  He’s not a child, he doesn’t need constant attention.  It’s okay to leave him to go workout.  If he has an accident, I’ll clean it up, it’s not the end of the world.  And in two weeks, this 5k will be over and I can walk with him for exercise in the evenings if I choose not to go running as much.  Besides, tonight I can always take him for a long walk later and burn even more calories.

2.  It’s too snowy to run.  My feet will get wet.

–So go to the trail and SEE if it’s snowy or not!  If it’s snowy, go to the fitness center and get your butt on a treadmill!

3.  What if my knee starts hurting again?

–What are you going to do, NOT run the 5K you signed up for?  No matter what, you’re going to keep running until April 1st.  If your knee hurts later, take some advil and get over it!

4.  I’m hungry.

–Oh, please.  You can have supper when you get back home.

5.  I have the hiccups.

–You have GOT to be kidding me!  They will be gone by the time you get to the trail or the fitness center.

6.  But it’s 5:30, the fitness center is probably busy.  There’s probably not a treadmill available.

–If you think you’ll wait until after supper and then go work out, you just won’t do it.  Go now, wait for a treadmill, and get it over with!!!

Do you see?  The queen of excuses.  And the excuses got dumber and dumber as I talked myself out of them.  The hiccups???  But it worked, now I’m going to go workout!  This was a good idea.  I’ll have to do this more often when I feel like skipping it!
